Denis Lavoie hails from Rimouski in the Lower St. Lawrence region. Introduced to the beauties of nature at an early age, he quickly developed an interest in snowmobiling and later, as a teenager, in quad biking and motorcycling. An avid hiker, he covers several thousand kilometres every year. He mainly enjoys the roads and trails of Bas-St-Laurent, Gaspésie, Côte-Nord and northern New Brunswick.

A computer scientist by training, he worked for many years for various companies in the Rimouski area. In 2002, he founded SledMagazine.ca, which quickly became a reference for snowmobilers. Since 2008, he has worked full-time as a recreational vehicle columnist. In 2015, he co-founded MagazineMoto.com.
