Toggle🧼 Breaking Them In… In Style
The first time I slid my foot into the SIDI Crossair HD boots, I wasn’t even on my bike. Mine was down for maintenance, but I wasn’t going to let that stop the fun. I broke them in the old-school way—ripping around on a quad. Later, I snuck in a few rides on my partner’s bike to compare feel and response, especially when squeezing with the knees.
Then came the true test: the Hard Enduro Hunniez Loop at the Nanaimo Wastelands. In full-on BC monsoon mode. And spoiler alert: my socks were dry at the end.
Tested across: Backyard loops, partner’s bike, island hard enduro rain fest.
Vibe: Lightweight. Stylish. Built for more? Time will tell.
👀 First Impressions: Billy Bolt, Is That You?
Let’s be real—these are the best-looking boots I’ve ever worn.
The Billy Bolt graphic is clean, bold, and has just enough edge to feel pro while being flashy. But these boots are more than a pretty face.
At just 1,665 g (size 43), they’re noticeably lighter than most other pro-level boots I’ve worn. It’s not just hype—you really feel the difference while walking, riding, and pushing the bike around.
🦶 Fit, Flex, and Functionality
✅ Comfort & Flex
From the first ride, the ankle support stood out. The anatomic heel cup and internal fibreglass exoskeleton offer a unique blend of support and freedom. Whether I was hopping logs or tiptoeing on loose rocky uphills, the boots allowed solid articulation without sacrificing structure.
🧷 3-Buckle Closure
I had doubts at first—three buckles? Will it feel secure?
Turns out, once adjusted right, the system is solid. No unwanted movement, no pressure points. A very snug fit that doesn’t loosen with action.
🔕 Quiet Walkers
Okay, this one’s underrated: these boots barely squeak.
Compared to other hinge boots that sound like a haunted house when you walk, the Crossair HD boots are stealthy. Makes a difference at events or during coaching clinics when you’re off the bike more than on.
🌧️ Waterproofing & Weather Testing
It poured for 3 straight hours during one of my test days, and I was bracing for soggy feet… but nope. Completely dry socks at the end of the session.
The Cambrelle + Teflon mesh liner is doing its job. Combined with the high gaiter design and sealed tongue construction, I’d definitely trust these for long, wet days in the saddle.
🪨 Traction & Soles: The Trials Touch
The SC Vibram sole, developed in collaboration with Vibram®, feels more like a trials boot. It’s comfy, flexible, and decent on foot—but I noticed:
- 🔼 Great traction walking around (unless it’s ultra steep and rocky)
- 🪵 Less “locked in” grip on the foot pegs compared to my Leatt 5.5 boots.
The capped toe area also made things slippery on sharp inclines while pushing the bike, especially when wet. I’ve seen pros take the steel caps off—and I may end up doing the same.
🧪 Durability: Still Under Review
So far, the main construction is holding strong, but I already noticed minor punctures in the softer upper gaiter material near the top of the boot. It’s too early to say if this is just surface-level or a longer-term issue, especially considering BC’s brutal terrain and those sharp aftermarket pegs I just got. More hours will tell.
🏁 Final Thoughts: Lightweight Leaders with Pro Style
Are they the comfiest boots I’ve ever worn?
➡️ Absolutely.
Stylish and secure?
➡️ Totally.
Ready to protect in high-speed crashes or survive the full season of hard BC enduro?
➡️ 🤷♀️ TBD.
If a lightweight feel, agility, and all-day comfort are high on your list, the SIDI Crossair HD boots (especially in Billy Bolt style) are worth the hype. But if you’re hard on gear and prone to hitting sharp logs, rocks, or crazy root systems… maybe keep a close eye on the uppers. Comfort and style do not mean locked in protection, and I need more mileage and crashes on them to tell you more!
